Halloween is just around the corner and we can’t wait. It’s arguably the most fun holiday of the year. Yes, we love costumes and haunted houses but it gets our vote because it’s the only holiday that centers around delicious treats. They keyword here is treats. Our Halloween strategy for kids is to find a balance between them overdosing on candy corn and being the neighbor that hands out boxes of raisins. So we created this adorable fun snackboard that will satisfy their candy craving while providing healthier substance.
Celery Sticks and Almond Butter with Sugar Googly Eyes
This fun take on Ants on a Log is how you get away with serving vegetables on Halloween without looking like the Wicked Witch of the West. We found these candy eyes in the baking section of the supermarket but you could easily create eyes using melted white and black chocolate and let them harden in the fridge.
Spider AB&Js with pretzel legs
There isn’t a time when kids don’t want to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich—even when they’re competing against sweets. To create these Spider AB&Js, use a cookie cutter to create circular sandwiches, add pretzel sticks, and use the candy of your choice for eyes. To up the health ante, We substitute our almond butter instead of peanut butter because it has extra protein, no hydrogenated oils, or refined sugar and wheat bread.
These personal pizzas are incredibly cute and incredibly easy to make. Use half of an English muffin as your “crust”. Add sauce, arrange string cheese strips like bandages, and black olives for eyes. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the English muffin is crisp.
