Murderous Mary

A spooky take on the classic Bloody Mary cocktail — this version uses tomatillos for a green base with manzanilla olive eyeball ice cubes. Perfect for any Halloween party.

Olive Eyeball Ice Cubes

  • Lindsay Manzanilla Olives Stuffed with Pimiento

  • Water

For the tomatillo base

  • 12 medium tomatillos, husks removed and quartered

  • 10 yellow cherry tomatoes

  • 2 sprigs of cilantro, stems removed

  • 2 limes, juiced

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • Pinch of salt

For the cocktail

  • 2 cups tomatillo base

  • 4 oz vodka

  • Green hot sauce to taste

  • 2 tsp horseradish (optional)

  • 1 tsp celery salt

  • Sriracha, optional for garnish

Cooking Directions

  1. Fill ice cube tray with water, then add 1-2 manzanilla olives to each cube. Allow to freeze overnight.

  2. Combine all ingredients for the tomatillo base in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer (or retain as much of the fine pulp as you like!). Store in the fridge until ready for use.

  3. Rim a rocks glass with lime, then with a salt/pepper/cayenne mixture (plain salt works too!). Fill with olive eyeball ice cubes. Divide cocktail between the two glasses. Option to add extra garnish with a bloody sriracha rim!
